The Library Pavilion project was the first project of a two part studio with a focalization on reading spaces. The aim of the project was to make reading interesting to the public once more, as well as create a community space in Boston’s Chinatown. The requirements were simple, the pavilion had to be for all ages and it needed to house books. I created an undulating set of planks, which were intend- ed to be created out of wood, to form a wave-like shape in the heart of Chinatown. The different heights represent the age group of the books they house. As well, the wave-like shapes can be used to sit, lean, and lie down. The space is interactive for children as they can slide down the different portions as well as climb under and over to find the right books for their respective ages.
